Federal Reserve

Federal Reserve policymakers may signal at their meeting this week how and when the improving economy will lead them to start raising record-low interest rates.

Higher rates are still months away, Chairman Ben Bernanke and other Fed officials have signaled in appearances on Capitol Hill and in speeches. They've indicated that low rates are still required to foster the economic rebound.

Celtics' Davis denies intentionally hurting Shaq

Boston's Glen Davis denies he intentionally tried to hurt Shaquille O'Neal in a game earlier this season, calling the accusations "crazy." O'Neal is expected to miss the rest of Cleveland's regular season after tearing a ligament in his thumb when Davis blocked his shot in a game in Boston on Feb. 25. After the block, replays seemed to catch Davis squeezing O'Neal's hand on Cleveland's next possession.

Davis says he was simply battling O'Neal for position and didn't know the hand was injured until O'Neal called a timeout and said his thumb was broke as he walked toward the bench. Davis texted O'Neal after the incident and says O'Neal responded, "Don't worry, I'll be back."

Both played at LSU. Davis calls O'Neal one of his favorite players growing up, and the day he met O'Neal for the first time was "the highlight of my life."

Kobe Bryant - MPV Race

Bryant did it again, nailing a 17-foot fadeaway jump shot from the right baseline with 1.9 seconds left to boost the Lakers past Toronto 109-107. The L.A. star scored 14 of his team's final 20 points, which is otherwise known as carrying a huge MVP-candidate's load. Bryant was more focused on the Lakers' faltering defense than on his individual heroics, another MVP-worthy trait. But given his flair for the dramatic, this stat surprised The Race: James actually leads the NBA in fourth-quarter scoring (7.5 ppg, ahead of Dirk Nowitzki's 7.1). The Cleveland star has led the NBA in that category twice previously in his career.

The government sent investigators Tuesday to examine a Prius that sped out of control on a California highway. Toyota said it wanted to interview the driver as the automaker was dealt another high-profile blow to its image - as more questions are raised with regard to its hybrid's safety.
